Terms of Service

BarcodeVibe is published by Applications Ben Cool. You can reach us at support@barcodevibe.com.

You must be at least 13 years old to use BarcodeVibe. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

You may hold one account. You are responsible for what happens under it and for keeping your sign-in method secure.

BarcodeVibe helps you scan grocery products, follow their prices over time, compare unit prices, spot format changes, and see price observations shared by other shoppers.

The service is free. There is no subscription and no in-app purchase.

The service is informational. Prices, promotions, pack sizes, and availability change constantly and vary by store. Community observations are what other shoppers reported, not verified store pricing. Always check the shelf and the receipt before you rely on a number you saw in the app.

BarcodeVibe does not give legal, financial, nutritional, medical, or dietary advice. Product data comes partly from third-party databases and may be incomplete or out of date. If you have an allergy or a medical condition, read the physical packaging.

BarcodeVibe includes content posted by other users. When you post a price observation, a Spotted item, a comment, or a photo, you agree not to submit:

• False, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate prices or product information
• Sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or otherwise objectionable content
• Harassment, threats, or content that targets a person or a group
• Personal information about anyone else, including people visible in a photo
• Spam, advertising, or repetitive promotional content
• Illegal content, or content you do not hold the rights to share

Keep your photos to products, shelves, and price tags. Do not photograph other shoppers or store staff.

If you see content that breaks these rules, report it from the post itself, or email support@barcodevibe.com with a description and a screenshot. We review reports and act on them, typically within a few business days.

We may remove, edit, or refuse any submission, and we may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules. Serious violations result in immediate removal without notice.

We may also automatically screen submissions for obvious abuse before they become visible to other users.

You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content inside BarcodeVibe, and to keep an anonymized version of price data after your account is gone so that historical price context stays intact for other shoppers.

This licence ends for identifiable content when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post.

BarcodeVibe awards experience points, badges, streaks, and in-app points for using the app. These have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred, and cannot be redeemed outside the app.

We may adjust how points are earned or spent, and we may reset balances obtained by abusing the system.

• Do not scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the service
• Do not reverse engineer the app or interfere with its security
• Do not use automated means to create accounts or submit content
• Do not resell or redistribute BarcodeVibe data as your own product

Product information, flyers, recall notices, and map data come in part from third parties, including Open Food Facts, Flipp, Statistics Canada, Health Canada, and OpenStreetMap. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy. Links to external sites are provided for convenience only.

The BarcodeVibe name, logo, mascot, interface, and software are ours and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not give you any right to use them beyond using the app as intended.

We may add, change, suspend, or remove features as the product evolves. Store coverage, supported countries, and data sources vary by region and can change.

We may suspend the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or through our account deletion page.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that is used fraudulently, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that price data is accurate, complete, or current.

Nothing in this section limits the statutory rights you hold as a consumer, including under the Quebec Consumer Protection Act. Those rights apply regardless of what these terms say.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, nor for losses arising from a purchasing decision you made based on information in the app.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero.

Again, this does not limit rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived.

You obtained BarcodeVibe from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Your use is also subject to that store's own terms.

For the App Store version: this agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and we alone are responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, and intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

We may update these terms. When we make a material change, we ask you to accept the new version the next time you open the app. If you decline, you can stop using the service and delete your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Quebec have jurisdiction, except where the law of your place of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
